A recent article
in The Chicago Tribune
focused on a growing number of Virtual
Assistants (VAs). Its author, Barbara
Rose, defines VAs as an "emerging
occupational niche spurred by the
Internet and a desire of some tech-savvy
professionals . . . who want more
flexible working hours."
What type of person needs
this support?
Small Business Owners
Traveling Professionals/Consultants
Large
Corporations needing Specialized
Resources
Entrepreneurs now have access to a large
and varied group of talented
individuals, not necessarily chained to
a desk in an established office from 9
to 5. Not necessarily someone who needs
the health or pension benefits of a
full-time employee. Not necessarily
someone who resides in your same city!
But more than that, these are people
who have specialized skills that you
need from time to time, but not
necessarily all the time.
The Future
Trend:
Consider a Virtual Assistant to be the
equivalent of enterprise outsourcing.
Email, the Internet, specialized
software - there is no reason not to be
able to find the right person to do the
right job for you.
